"We used Karen (with Family Navigator for Seniors) for 2 stages regarding our Mom’s care needs:

Firstly, when we were challenged with finding a retirement home that could meet the special needs of our Mom with dementia. The options are many and Karen was knowledgeable, professional and supportive in working us through the process. Without her support, we likely would have been overwhelmed searching for the right fit for our mom.

Secondly, when it was time to go to the next stage with our Mom and search for Long Term Care, she provided us with insight and guidance into the Long-Term Care options and assisted with research, narrowing down the right homes and the application process.  She helped us make sense of a complex system, reduced our anxiety and gave us the tools we needed to make the right choice. “

"I felt overwhelmed about my wife’s failing memory and rapid decline.

After Karen gained a thorough understanding of my wife’s condition, she researched the best options, explained the steps we would take, facilitated tours and helped me make a decision that felt right. Karen knew the right questions to ask, explained how to work with medical staff and social workers and even suggested the appropriate furniture for my wife's suite.

Today, my wife is settled in a memory-care residence and I feel she is well looked after by staff that really care."

"My sister and I were considering a seniors’ residence for our 90 year old dad (with mobility issues) and our 89 year old mom (with cognitive issues).  Since they had lived happily for 60 years at their home in Toronto starting a search for a suite in a seniors’ residence was daunting. Then along came Karen and these are our observations:

  • Karen was patient and kept us organized.

  • Her interview with us and our parents, resulted in recommendations that made the most sense.

  • She drew on extensive experience in Seniors Housing and her background as a former Registered Nurse.

  • She played out realistic options on which we based our decisions.

  • She was professional and empathetic throughout the process.

We would highly recommend Karen to turn a daunting situation into a supportive life transition!"

"The term navigator is perfect. There are so many options out there and a lot of very emotional decisions to make.

It was a relief to know you would be there to provide personalized support and guidance through the process."
